As earlier
accounted, within the era of Yahoshea Meshiyach's ministry, there were many
powerful and strong religious sects and elements that asserted mountainous
influences upon humanity.
Before or shortly after his
manifesting, there were religious convictions on divinity by some acclaimed
divinised persons whom were viewed as redeemers at various quarters. Such persons include – Tutankhamun, Krishna
of Hindostan, Bussah Sakia of India, Odin of the Scandinavians, Zoroaster and
Mithra of Persia, Baal and Tant, “The only Begotten of God” of Phenicia, Indra
of Thibet, Bali of Afghanistan, Jao of Nepaul, Wittobe of the Bilingones,
Thammus of Syria, Atys of Pharygai, Xaniolxis of Thrace, Zoar of the Bonzes,
Adad of Assyria, Thor, son of Odin of the Gauls, Gadimus of Greece, Quirinus of
Rome, Prometheus of Caucasus, Mohamud or Mahomet of Arabia etc.
These men have their concepts
and claims of direct revelation and wisdom as divine beings or agents.
Like Hellenism,
Platoism and various Gnostics, Marcion is an averred and inapological hater of
Hebrew syncretism.
History Of The
Group
Macion the
founder of Macionites was a son of a
bishop of Sinope Pointus in Asian Minor who arrived in Rome in 140Ad where he
started his religious schism that appear contrary to the Catholic Church.
In year 144Ad,
he was ex-commutated from the church and as a wealthy ship-owner with support
of donation returned to him by the church after his excommunication he funded his sect later to be identified as Marcionism.
Concepts And
Heresies
Marcion was a
heretic teacher whose concepts centered upon rejection of Old Testament
accounts of the Holy Scriptures as well as acts of the characters in the
account.
Marcion was of
the belief that creator of the Old Testament account of the scriptures was
inconsistent and genocidal and that the material world he created was defectual
and abode of suffering.
The concept held
by Marcion and his followers was that the wrathful Hebrew creator was a lower
entity than the all forgiving creator of the New Testament account of the
scriptures. Marcion was of the dualistic
syncretism which post that there are opposing gods, one being a force or
principle of higher spiritual and good while the other in contrast as of lower,
material and evil. This concept is
totally different from the concept of mainstream Yahosheanism which sees evil as no
independent existence but emerged from disobedient of the divine laws.
In Marcionism,
Yahoshea was not seen as a mere Meshiyach but a spiritual force that was sent
from a higher spiritual abode above that of the creator of Hebrew tribe to
reveal the truth about existence and to help humanity to escape from the trap
set by the Hebrew creator.
Marcionic
heresies condemned Yahweh, his accredited laws of justice and ordinances. The sect merely focus its interest upon
accounts of the book of Luke and Epistles of Paul with special interest on
areas that go contrary to Hebrew ordinances.
Marcion based his religious convictions
upon the letters of Paul whom he saw as the chief of all apostles of
Yahoshea. The sect looked towards
redeeming of Yahoshea's assembly from false Hebrew-doctrines and to cloth it
with Hellenistic and Platonic influence.
Religious
scholars hold that there were stricken relationship or resemblance of
Marcionism with Paulicianism for sake of their over regard over Epistles of
Paul the apostle. Scholars equally held
that Marcio's texts influenced many Epistles of Paul because he was the chief
collector of those scripts.
There is wide
speculation that Marcion influenced the editing and canonization of book of St.
Luke as well as many Epistles of Paul the apostle. As an Anti-Hebrew doctrines, Marcion was a
great apostate and heretic that the early apostolic assembly avoided but was
hooked by his influence on the new testament scripts.
Critics To The
Sect
One of Marcion's
critics was Tertullian who called him a manifest of satan who descret the good
works of Yahweh through his begotten son Yahoshea that is continued or
represented by his physical assembly.
Tertullian's
view on Marcionism was presented in one of his writing as thus, “ Since Marcion
separated the New Testament from the Old, he is necessarily subsequent to that
which he separated, inasmuch as it was only in his power to separate what was
previously united. Having been united
previous to its separation, the fact of its subsequent separation proves the
subsequence also of the man who effected the separation”.
Conclusion
Like Mani,
Marcion was an ardent enemy to Hebrew doctrines which was the foundation of
Yahoshea’s ministry. Yahoshea Meshiyach
was a true Hebrew citizen and his ministry was totally grounded on the soil of
Hebrew syncretism which was presented as Old Testament of the Holy Scriptures.
Therefore, if
Marcion was an apostle of Yahoshea as he claimed, he would have make the
doctrine of Hebrew religion his matter of interest. This means that he must speak respectably of
Yahweh and his ordinances. He who loves
Yahoshea and his calling must certainly love Yahweh that sent him. There is no separation between Yahoshea and
Yahweh whom he directly identified as his father.
Marcion and
people of his caliber were responsible for the adulteration of the accounts of
Yahoshea's manifestation. They were of
disservice to humanity although they deceived their adherents that they were
working for Yahoshea Meshiyach.
Marcionists were
considered the most dangerous of the Gnostics by the established Yahoshea's assembly that later degenerated into
Christendom.
Early assembly
fathers hated the works of Marcion and his followers. For instance, when
Polycarp met Marcio at Rome, he was said to identify Marcion as “the first-born
of Satan”. He was totally viewed as a
heretic by his concept that separated the Old Testament to New Testament.
The early
assembly was deceived by many people in the manner of Marcion who joined the
sect and adulterated it to suit their own concepts.
These men of
evil intents deceived men of their days by presentation of false doctrines they
acclaimed to mean a reformation or revivalism to apostolic faith.
They claim to represent the true Messianic assembly and thereby misguide
their followers into prediction. Marcionite's heresies influenced the church's
view over the Old Testament Scriptures and activities. It is equally been
patronised by many modern atheists and Gnostics as they attack the personality
of Yahweh and his works.
